You may be tempted to go on a singles cruise vacation, however, beware that there may be a 100% surcharge for single room occupancy, unless you go with a friend who is willing to share a cabin with you. With some cruise operators, there will be no surcharge for single occupancy of a cabin. The length of singles cruises are also dependent on the location that the cruise is travelling to. Cruises to the Bahamas, from the states, can be much shorter than cruises to Hawaii because of the length of time it takes the cruise ship to get to the islands. Cruising is a great opportunity to travel to places while meeting new people constantly. You are likely to find many cruise breaks that follow a particular theme, such as the Wild West or Swinging Sixties.

Small Group Adventures
Sounds great doesn't it. These are usually activity holidays to more remote parts of the world that offer significant flexibility, allowing you an intimacy that won't crowd out your experience. They might be guided tours of Australia where you are led by an Aboriginal guide into the bush, experiencing Australian wildlife whilst listening to traditional stories, weaving a bracelet or learning to throw a spear! Other singles group tours might involve guided Guatemala tours through the ancient Maya ruins of Tikal, where you will visit the volcanoes of the Guatemala highlands, and the colonial city of Antigua. You could find yourself exploring the beautiful mountain town of Chichicastenango, famous for its vibrant and lively market. Small group tours offers spontaneity, flexibility and a sense of personal discovery - minus the logistical hassles and worry of having to organise it ALL yourself.

Whether it's a trek in the Andes, traversing the plains of Africa, exploring local markets in China, or a polar expedition, gay singles holidays usually involve a style of travel that captures the essence of the real world. You probably won't be travelling in large buses, large convoys or flotillas of sailboats! So don't pack too much and keep it light.

What you really don't want is to choose the kind of holiday company who is unable to match travellers into a group of similar levels and experience. You don't want a tour company that puts an avid hiker, who loves to push themselves on a trek, into a group of elderly people who can only handle short distances, or a company that puts an experienced sea kayaker on an expedition with first timers.
