          o Bangkok, Thailand: The capital of a nation known for tolerance towards gay people.
          o Cairns, Australia
          o Gold Coast, Australia
          o Manila, Philippines: Known as the "San Francisco" of Asia.
          o Melbourne, Australia
          o Phuket, Thailand: A small gay precinct in Patong Beach called Paradise Complex
          o Shanghai, China
          o Sydney, Australia: One of the "gay capitals" of the world, Sydney hosts the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras on the first Saturday of March, each year, preceded by a month of festivities and gaiety. Sydney hosted the Gay Games in 2002.
          o Tokyo, Japan
          o Tel Aviv, Israel

    * Canada
          o Montreal: Site of the 1st World Outgames July 29 to August 5, 2006. Home of one of the largest gay villages in the world.
          o Toronto: Site of gay village Church and Wellesley and an annual Gay Pride parade.
          o Vancouver: Site of gay village Davie Village, home of Davie Street Festival which runs in conjunction with Vancouver's annual Gay Pride Parade. Gay Games host 1990.

    * Europe
          o Amsterdam, The Netherlands: Considered a gay "mecca". Gay Games host 1998.
          o Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain: Most prominent gay neighbourhood is "Gaixample", nicknamed after the official government zone Eixample
          o Berlin, Germany: Before the Nazi regime it was known to be the gay capital of Europe. It has since regained the title of at least being in the top 5.
          o Blackpool, England
          o Bolton, England: A tough working class town with the highest concentration of gay men in England.
          o Brighton, England
          o Budapest, Hungary: Liberal ex-communist block city, which is a popular city break destination among gays. Host city for the Mr Gay Europe 2007, Olympics for Transgender. The official website of the city has a special section for gay travellers and locals.
          o Cologne, Germany: Site of the 2005 International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) annual convention. Will be the host city of the Gay Games in 2010.
          o Geneva, Switzerland, the host city of the 2006 ILGA World Conference
          o Copenhagen, Denmark
          o Gran Canaria, Spain: The town of Playa del Inglés is especially popular with gays from northern Europe (England, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland) and from Spain. Gaylife is centered around the Yumbo Centrum shopping center with many gay bars and night spots. Gay beach near the Dunes of Maspalomas.
          o Ibiza, Spain
          o London, England: Home to G-A-Y, one of the largest gay clubs in all of Europe. Soho is the focus of the gay community.
          o Madrid, Spain: Especially Chueca
          o Manchester, England: Hosts annual Gay Pride festival centred around the large gay village.
          o Munich, Germany near the Sendlinger Tor
          o Mykonos, Greece
          o Paris, France: An important destination for gay and lesbian travellers. Site of gay village Le Marais.
          o Sitges, Catalunya, Spain, south of Barcelona
          o Stockholm, Sweden: Hosts the biggest gay pride parade of the Nordic countries every August.
          o Torre del Lago, Italy: Hosts the biggest Italian gay event, in August.
          o Torremolinos, Andalusia, Spain: very close to Malaga. The gay scene is located in the La Nogalera area.
          o Zurich, Switzerland: The largest city in Switzerland offers an active nightlife with clubs and bars, a number of cultural events for gays, such as the “Warmer Mai” (Gay May) festival, the Swiss gay and lesbian film festival, Pink Apple, Christopher Street Day in June/July. Official host city for the Europride 2009.
